Introduction
Romania's capital Bucharest has remained the capital since 1862 and is now the country's largest and wealthiest metropolis. The streets are lines with trees and classical buildings and amazing public structures which is in great contrast to the untidy, congested roads. Stalinist apartment blocks and incomplete constructions sit, ugly in this city which is usually loved or hated almost immediately by visitors.
Bucharest - Holiday
Often noted as the 'Paris of the East' because of its long, leaf strewn boulevards and grand buildings. The capital city suffered greatly under communism and lost much of its elegance, largely thanks to Nicolae Ceausescu who was leader of the communist party in 1965. The city is home to the Palace of Parliament, the second largest building in the world (after the Pentagon), and is a prime tourist attraction.

Amongst others, both the British and the Romanian national airlines have regular direct flights to Bucharest, a journey which takes around three and a half hours. Flights go frequently from most Major UK airports such as London Heathrow & Gatwick.

A multitude of magnificent museums are scattered amongst Bucharest's amazing architecture. Galleries, Orthodox churches and other incredible architecture can also be found in the city with little difficulty. The political past of the city leads to an interesting history for tourists to explore. Many ancient buildings have been restored and preserved, a great selection of sights can be chosen from and after a day of cultural exploration a vivid nightlife can be discovered.
