Much of Tenerife's origins have moved on and made way for popular tourist attractions on this island, but there is still as distinct sense of the way things were with it's strong Spanish flavour. The island creates the natural Spanish style but in a more laid back style without the hustle and bustle of the mainland attractions such as Madrid. The island's capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is an upbeat town which is geared up for tourism. Its port, where the first shots of the Spanish Civil War were fired, is today a myriad of ferries, jetfoils and freighters. Overall as a popular tourist destination Tenerife is a pleasing place for a package holiday. If you need a relaxing holiday, but don't mind a relatively busy beach in the summer, then this resort with it's fantastic scenery and welcoming attitude is just what the doctor ordered
