Located in the southwest of Turkey, Kusadasi is an important port in a bay on the Aegean Coast. Lying only 56 miles away from the bustling metropolis of Izmir, Kusadasi has become one of the most popular holiday resorts in all of Turkey, when it's population swells from 50,000 to over half a million in the busy summer months. It was once a small fishing village, but now the dry, but green, attractive landscape is now dotted with hotels, accommodation and public services for the hoards of expectant holidaymakers that visit here each year.

The centre of the town is packed to the rafters with carpet shops and souvenir shop, some of which are more genuine than others, and is relatively peaceful throughout the day, but waits for the night when the lively atmosphere begins to bubble. Kusadasi is very much a family orientated destination with plenty to keep children of all ages busy, even with great nightlife for the older ones. Getting to Kusadasi
The nearest airport for Kusadasi is in Izmir, which is around and hour and a half's drive away, meaning that transfers are of mid length and you can see some of the Turkish countryside before you plunge into your holidays. Flights are around four hours in length and it is possible to take direct flights from the UK.
Plenty to see and do in Kusadasi
There is plenty to do in the main town of Kusadasi, from the standard boat and Gullet cruises to the more traditional Turkish Baths, without forgetting the more specialist trips; Horse riding and Jeep safari's, among others. It is beneficial to shop around when booking popular tours, as the prices can range greatly, but do make sure you book with a reputable source and haggle well!
Despite the build up in tourism in recent years, Kusadasi still has a great deal to offer those that wish to explore, it is well worth hiring a car or taking yourself off by public transport to discover the secrets of the surrounding areas. Kusadasi is situated amongst splendid coastal scenery and several significant archaeological sites, including the three well-preserved settlements of Miletus, Priene and Didyma. Another popular excursion is to take advantage of the ferry link between Kusadasi and the nearby Greek islands of Samos and Mykonos.
